Our goal
Our goal
The goal of the Community Child and Youth Well-being Survey is to develop community capacity to gather comprehensive, balanced, actionable data about how children and youth are experiencing life. The survey was designed to gather information based on the nine dimensions of the Canadian Index of Child and Youth Well-being:
- We are happy and respected
- We are secure
- We belong
- We are healthy
- We are learning
- We are participating
- We are free to play
- We are protected
- We are connected to our environment
In addition, the survey includes demographic characteristics to understand who the young people in the community are, identify differences or inequities between them and facilitate understanding of how different dimensions of young lives – and actions affecting them – are interrelated.
The resulting framework is designed to support communities across Canada to gather data with and about children and youth, identify actions to better meet the needs of young people and invest in what matters most to equitably advance their well-being.
